HYPERHYDROSIS
Treating hyperhidrosis with Botox injections
Hyperhydrosis is a common and distressing condition where a person sweats excessively. It most commonly affects the underarms, hands and feet.
Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections are used to 'turn off' the sweat glands and reduce sweating. Treatment with Botox injections is extremely effective at reducing sweating, with effects lasting for three to six months.
Men require a larger volume of Botox than women due to larger muscle mass. There is an additional charge for men of £50 to cover the larger amount of Botox needed.

Commonly Asked Questions
When you attend for your appointment you will be asked to lie down on the treatment couch. It is advisable to come for treatment in a baggy t-shirt for easier access to the armpits.
The armpits are thoroughly cleansed and a few small injections of Botox are placed into the armpit. The procedure is quick and takes less than ten minutes. Local anaesthetic cream or ice can be used prior to injections if you are anxious.
Similar to Botox injections used to smooth lines and wrinkles, the effects of treatment for hyperhidrosis also start to wear off in approximately three to six months.
